Oct 21 - Coughing
I was really starting to worry my cough. Anyone who has smoked for a long time and quits will most likely experience coughing up what feels like your left lung. It is not the nicest thing to wake up to. It is a good thing actually. It means that you are getting rid of the tar and other - stuff - that smoking has deposited on the surfaces of your lungs.
My cough went on for a bit longer then I thought and I was starting to get worried. A persistent cough is also a sign of more serious side effect of smoking - lung cancer.
When you quit expect that you will cough up stuff every morning. It will pass. I look at it as another reason why I should not start smoking again!
Do you remember your first cigarette? I do. Stole a daMaurier regular from my mother. A friend and I smoked it on the beach at my cottage. I think that I was 10 years old at the time. I didn't really start smoking until I was 17. It was hard to start smoking. I hacked and it made me feel gross. We forget that part after a couple of months.Combine the work it takes to start smoking and combine that with the work it takes to stop. Why would you start smoking again? I almost have myself convinced;-)
